TIPS (Training in Intervention Procedures by Servers of alcohol) is a nationwide certification program that teaches the responsible serving of alcohol. Issues addressed include: checking IDs, the physiological and psychological effects of consuming alcohol, and the best ways to keep guests under control. The TIPS portion of the course uses an interactive case method where various scenarios are acted out to give you an accurate portrayal of the proper methods for handling difficult situations. At the end of this session, you'll take the TIPS certification exam and receive your certification card in the mail.
Through this course you will use hands-on bartending scenarios to practice advanced drink mixing and event management. The TIPS & Mixology Course also emphasizes hands-on training and practice in making complex concoctions as well as recipe design and preparation. The second half of the course is comprised of scenarios designed to simulate actual events and conditions frequently encountered behind the bar. Graduates of this course will be prepared for the most demanding bartending engagements.
